The people who deal with people, talent managers are professionals who have important roles in an organization, Hiring, managing, and organizing Human Resources, according to Toni Ross (2021) “Talent managers oversee the business affairs of performers, actors, musicians, writers, and athletes. Talent managers work for clients or are employed by talent agencies”. To achieve the company vision talent manager plays a major role in collaboration with various departments such as HR, training and development, lower to higher management, finance, operation, and technology to make seamless and effective talent intake, performance, and retention.

Talent acquisition: identity and recruiting the talent for the right place at the right time, including strategic plan, conducting interviews, offering jobs, and onboarding

Employee Developments: by evaluating performance management arrange skill development programs to sharpen them to perform well such as employee training programs, coaching, mentoring, seminars, workshops

Performance Management: Traditionally performances are measured once a year and employees get feedback and rewards based on it, however with a rapidly changing world day by day performance management systems are required and various technologies are used to manage it, performance management is a key aspect of evaluating employee productivity and towards the success of the business

Workforce planning and Retention: responsible for analyzing and providing current and future employee needs and requirements, making sure the right people at the right time for the right position to achieve the organizational goals, this most importantly engaging with employees and providing them training and development and rewards and compensation to retain them for a long-term run


How to Become Talent Manager


becoming a talent manager is an exciting journey since it involves dealing with people, through education, experience, and networking you can become a Talent manager.

Earn a degree: the first step after high school, earn a degree that will provide a strong foundation in your relevant field.

Work experience: to get appropriate work experience in the required field, you can start as an internship after or while you are in your undergraduate program

Networking: Make relationships with industry people and get in touch with them, participate in events, conferences, and seminars, and be a part of HR professional organizations

determine the specific niche become an expert in that area, and continue learning and developing, adopting the technology.

  3. A Talent Manager and HR Manager is there a difference? Seems like the same criteria for both. If Talent Manager is separate to HR Manager then I feel it is not required as a successful HR Manager can cover these areas.

All HR managers are talent manager but all talent managers are not HR manager, HR is more focused in administrative work such as salaries, vacation, benefits, complaints and legal terms, hiring and interview while talent managers are only focusing in developing and advancing the top talents in an organisation. According to Dr. Bassem Assi (2020) HR is all about effectively attracting, hiring and retaining the employee and it is an old function for many years. relatively talent management is new niche inside HR which reinvent talent in an employee to something bigger and better.
